Dog Body Sizes: Typical Breeds
Next, let us take a quick look at which dog breeds typically fall under each body size for a better visual comparison.
Medium to Small: American Cocker Spaniel, Basset Hound, Bichon Frise, Cardigan Welsh Corgi, Chinese Crested, Dachshund, French Bulldog, Lhasa Apso, among others.
EXCEPTION: When it comes to Poodles, there is another size category called "Moyen." This is a French term for "medium" and describes the 4th size of a Poodle, between miniature and standard. (In the rest of Europe, this size Poodle is called a "Klein.")
Moyen Poodles are not as small as the Miniature Poodle or as tall as the Standard Poodle.
In the United States, this size is considered a Standard Poodle, just a small one.
